“The Pursuit of Godliness”
2 Peter 1:3–11
God’s grace has given us all that we need for life and godliness.
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires
By God’s grace, we must diligently pursue godliness.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
By God’s design, godliness is the mark of genuine Christianity.
9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We must pursue godliness because God has given us all that we need for the task and…
because the pursuit of godliness is the evidence of God’s grace in our lives.

“The Pastor’s Job Description: Preach the Word” - Cameron Jungels
2 Timothy 3:10–4:8 (NIV)
The Word of God must be central in the life of the church through the pastor’s faithful preaching and teaching.
Because preaching the Word is following the apostolic example.
2 Tim 3:10 - 11, 2 Tim 3:14, 1 Cor 11:1, 2 Tim 1:13, 2 Tim 2:2
Because the preaching of the Word is the power of God for salvation.
2 Tim 3:14 - 15, Romans 10:13 - 15, Romans 1:16, James 1:18
Because the preaching of God’s Word is essential for growth in Christ.

Daniel 11:30-45-“Doing Exploits for God.”
In this study we shall examine the three ideas in Daniel 11:32.
1. FIRST, WE MUST KNOW GOD. Job 22:21. John 14:6. John 17:3. Philippians 3:10
How do we really get to know God?
We get to know Him as we spend time in communion and in fellowship with Him. Genesis 5:22-24
We get to know Him as we listen to Him speaking to us. Luke 10:38-42.
We get to know Him by speaking to Him. Psalm 55:16-17. Daniel 6:10.
We get to know Him by observing His ways of working. Hosea 6:3. 2 Peter 3:18
2. KNOWING GOD WILL MAKE US STRONG. Ephesians 6:10
As we go on to know the Lord:
We shall become stronger in our confidence in Him. Job 19:25. Romans 8:28; 2 Timothy 1:12.
We shall become stronger in our power to meet and overcome temptation and evil. Acts 1:8
We shall become stronger in our ability to be a strength to others. Isaiah 40:28-31
And when we are strong, then what happens?
3. WHEN WE ARE STRONG WE SHALL DO EXPLOITS FOR GOD. Judges 14:5-6. 1 Kings18:38-39. Acts 15:26. Acts 17:6.
If we really know God and are thereby made strong in Him, we also shall do exploits, and we shall do them in two ways:
By prayer.
By Witnessing.
