Psalm 24 (NIV)
Of David. A psalm.
1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
2 for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.
3 Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol
or swear by a false god.
5 They will receive blessing from the Lord
and vindication from God their Savior.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face, God of Jacob.,
7 Lift up your heads, you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
the Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory.

Psalm 16 (NIV)
A miktam of David.
1 Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.
2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.”
3 I say of the holy people who are in the land,
“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.
I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods
or take up their names on my lips.
5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

Psalm 6 (NIV)
For the director of music. With stringed instruments. According to sheminith. A psalm of David.
1 Lord, do not rebuke me in your angeror discipline me in your wrath.
2 Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint;heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.
3 My soul is in deep anguish.How long, Lord, how long?
4 Turn, Lord, and deliver me;save me because of your unfailing love.
5 Among the dead no one proclaims your name.Who praises you from the grave?
6 I am worn out from my groaning.
All night long I flood my bed with weepingand drench my couch with tears.
7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow;they fail because of all my foes.
8 Away from me, all you who do evil,for the Lord has heard my weeping.
9 The Lord has heard my cry for mercy;the Lord accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish;they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.

Psalm 124:1–8 (NIV)
A song of ascents. Of David. 1 If the Lord had not been on our side— let Israel say— 2 if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, 3 they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us; 4 the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us, 5 the raging waters would have swept us away. 6 Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. 7 We have escaped like a bird from the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
1. Take a moment to contemplate the thought: “What if God had not been for us?” (verses 1–5).
a. Don’t take God and his help for granted (verses 1a, 2a).
b. Without God’s help we would have been defeated (verses 1–3).
c. Without God’s help we would have been overwhelmed (verse 4).
Psalm 69:2 I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me.
Psalm 69:1 Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.
Psalm 144:7 Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners
d. Without God’s help we would have been lost, gone forever (verse 5).
Psalm 94:17 Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
2. Take a moment to rejoice in the thought: “Our God is for us!” (verses 6–8).
a. Because the Lord helped us, he is worthy of praise.
b. Our Lord helped us and accomplished an unimaginable rescue (verse 7).
c. The Lord who helped us is the one who made the universe! (verse 8).
Psalm 121:2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.
d. The Lord, our Helper and our Creator, is for us!
Main Idea: “We live in a world full of dangers and snares, but we have a God who is our faithful helper and will never abandon us.”

1. Prayer for Deliverance (Psalm 12:1–4)*
1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race. 2 Everyone lies to their neighbor; they flatter with their lips but harbor deception in their hearts.
3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips and every boastful tongue— 4 those who say, “By our tongues we will prevail; our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”
2. Promise of the LORD (Psalm 12:5)
5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will protect them from those who malign them.”
3. Reflection on God’s Promises (Psalm 12:6)
6 And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.
4. Prayer for Deliverance (Psalm 12:7–8)
7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked, 8 who freely strut about when what is vile is honored by the human race.

"A Prayer: Asked and Answered" (Psalm 28)Pastor Cameron JungelsEastside Baptist ChurchWednesday, July 17, 2019Psalm 28 (NIV)
Of David.
1 To you, Lord, I call;
you are my Rock,
do not turn a deaf ear to me.
For if you remain silent,
I will be like those who go down to the pit.
2 Hear my cry for mercy
as I call to you for help,
as I lift up my hands
toward your Most Holy Place.
3 Do not drag me away with the wicked,
with those who do evil,
who speak cordially with their neighbors
but harbor malice in their hearts.
4 Repay them for their deeds
and for their evil work;
repay them for what their hands have done
and bring back on them what they deserve.
5 Because they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord
and what his hands have done,
he will tear them down
and never build them up again.
6 Praise be to the Lord,
for he has heard my cry for mercy.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people,
a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
9 Save your people and bless your inheritance;
be their shepherd and carry them forever.

“Finding Rest in God” (Psalm 62:1–12)Pastor Cameron JungelsEastside Baptist ChurchSunday AM, June 9, 2019
Psalm 62 (NIV)
1 Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
3 How long will you assault me?
Would all of you throw me down—
this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
4 Surely they intend to topple me
from my lofty place;
they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless,
but in their hearts they curse.
5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7 My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8 Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.
9 Surely the lowborn are but a breath,
the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
together they are only a breath.
10 Do not trust in extortion
or put vain hope in stolen goods;
though your riches increase,
do not set your heart on them.
11 One thing God has spoken,
two things I have heard:
“Power belongs to you, God,
12 and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
and, “You reward everyone
according to what they have done.”
1. Resting in God Should Be the Normal Orientation of Our Lives as God’s People (vv. 1–2).
a. What Does It Mean to Find Rest in God?
i. Resting is a ceasing, a stopping; but from what?
1. Work 2. Anxiety3. Fear
ii. Finding rest in God means that we stop looking for rest in all the wrong places:
1. Our own strength, intelligence, talents2. Our own resources, possessions, wealth3. The world’s numbing devices4. Hedonism – the endless pursuit of joy and satisfaction through the indulgence of personal appetites and desires
iii. Finding rest in God means that we go to him for our soul’s peace, calmness, tranquility, meaning, and fulfillment.
1. We find rest through complete trust in God.2. We find rest through finding our meaning and purpose in relationship to our Creator.3. We find rest through the work of Jesus Christ for us.
28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matt. 11:28-30 NIV)
2. But What Happens When Troubles Come? (vv. 3–4)
a. Because they will come, and at unexpected times.b. They will come in different forms.c. So, what do we do when trouble comes?
3. Preach to Yourself and Remind Yourself (and Others) to Continue to Trust in God (vv. 5–8).
4. Because Trusting in Human Strength Will Surely Let You Down (vv. 9–10).
5. But Trusting in the Powerful, Loving, and Just Lord Will Never Fail You (vv. 11–12).
a. The LORD Is Powerful (v. 11).b. The LORD Is Merciful, Loving, and Loyal (v. 12).c. The LORD Is Righteous and Just (v. 12).
Main Idea: At all times, and especially in times of trouble, find rest for your anxious soul in the Lord, because He and He alone is the only reliable source of peace and safety.

Psalm 34 (NIV)
Of David. When he pretended to be insane before Abimelek, who drove him away, and he left.
1 I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
2 I will glory in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 Glorify the Lord with me;
let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
11 Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
13 keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16 but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
to blot out their name from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all;
20 he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken.
21 Evil will slay the wicked;
the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
22 The Lord will rescue his servants;
no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.
1. Rejoice with Me! (vv. 1-3)
2. The Lord Is My Deliverer (vv. 4–7).
3. Come, Experience the Lord’s Goodness (vv. 8–10).
4. Listen to My Instruction (vv. 11–16).
5. Fear the Lord, and He Will Be Your Deliverer (vv. 17–22).

Psalm 1:1–6 (NIV) 1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
1. Two Different Directions
a. Clearly Distinct Directionsb. Directions of Choicec. A Direction of Graced. Progressive Directionse. Solitary vs. Crowded Paths
2. Two Different Dividends
a. Blessedness vs. Futility/Frustrationb. Flourishing vs. Withering
3. Two Different Destinies
a. In this lifeb. In the life to come
Main Idea: Those blessed by the Lord walk the path of delight in his Word. Their life is a flourishing one that leads to eternal life. The foolish and the mockers walk the path of self-determination, refusing to delight in or follow God’s Word. Their life is characterized by futility and ultimately ends in death and judgment.

Psalm 10:1–18 (NIV)
1 Why, Lord, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2 In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak,
who are caught in the schemes he devises.
3 He boasts about the cravings of his heart;
he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord.
4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him;
in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
5 His ways are always prosperous;
your laws are rejected by him;
he sneers at all his enemies.
6 He says to himself, “Nothing will ever shake me.”
He swears, “No one will ever do me harm.”
7 His mouth is full of lies and threats;
trouble and evil are under his tongue.
8 He lies in wait near the villages;
from ambush he murders the innocent.
His eyes watch in secret for his victims;
9 like a lion in cover he lies in wait.
He lies in wait to catch the helpless;
he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.
10 His victims are crushed, they collapse;
they fall under his strength.
11 He says to himself, “God will never notice;
he covers his face and never sees.”
12 Arise, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God.
Do not forget the helpless.
13 Why does the wicked man revile God?
Why does he say to himself,
“He won’t call me to account”?
14 But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted;
you consider their grief and take it in hand.
The victims commit themselves to you;
you are the helper of the fatherless.
15 Break the arm of the wicked man;
call the evildoer to account for his wickedness
that would not otherwise be found out.
16 The Lord is King for ever and ever;
the nations will perish from his land.
17 You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted;
you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,
18 defending the fatherless and the oppressed,
so that mere earthly mortals
will never again strike terror.
1. God, where are you when evil is running rampant? (1–11)
2. God, please arise and act on behalf of the oppressed! (12–15)
3. God, I believe you are the just and righteous King who defends the oppressed (16–18).

Psalm 119:121–128, NIV121 I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors. 122 Ensure your servant's well-being; do not let the arrogant oppress me. 123 My eyes fail, looking for your salvation, looking for your righteous promise. 124 Deal with your servant according to your love and teach me your decrees. 125 I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes. 126 It is time for you to act, LORD; your law is being broken. 127 Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, 128 and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path.
1. We are reminded in times of trouble, that we can put our hope in God to do what is just and right (v. 121-22).
2. We are reminded in times of trouble, that God's timing is not always the timing that we would want (vv. 123, 126).

Psalm 5
For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David.
1 Listen to my words, LORD,
consider my lament.
2 Hear my cry for help,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.
3 In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly.
4 For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
with you, evil people are not welcome.
5 The arrogant cannot stand
in your presence.
You hate all who do wrong;
6 you destroy those who tell lies.
The bloodthirsty and deceitful
you, LORD, detest.
7 But I, by your great love,
can come into your house;
in reverence I bow down
toward your holy temple.
8 Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness
because of my enemies—
make your way straight before me.
9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
their heart is filled with malice.
Their throat is an open grave;
with their tongues they tell lies.
10 Declare them guilty, O God!
Let their intrigues be their downfall.
Banish them for their many sins,
for they have rebelled against you.
11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
12 Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5, NIV)

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.
1 Answer me when I call to you,
my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
3 Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself;
the LORD hears when I call to him.
4 Tremble and do not sin;
when you are on your beds,

for you alone, LORD,
make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4, NIV)

Psalm 115 (NIV)
1 Not to us, Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
2 Why do the nations say,
“Where is their God?”
3 Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever pleases him.
4 But their idols are silver and gold,
made by human hands.
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see.
6 They have ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell.
7 They have hands, but cannot feel,
feet, but cannot walk,
nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
8 Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them.
9 All you Israelites, trust in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.
10 House of Aaron, trust in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.
11 You who fear him, trust in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.
12 The Lord remembers us and will bless us:
He will bless his people Israel,
he will bless the house of Aaron,
13 he will bless those who fear the Lord—
small and great alike.
14 May the Lord cause you to flourish,
both you and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
16 The highest heavens belong to the Lord,
but the earth he has given to mankind.
17 It is not the dead who praise the Lord,
those who go down to the place of silence;
18 it is we who extol the Lord,
both now and forevermore.
Praise the Lord.
1. The One True God Is Worthy of All Glory (1–2).
2. The One True God Is Worthy of Our Exclusive Worship (3–8).
3. The One True God Is Worthy of Our Complete Trust (9–11).
4. The One True God Blesses His People (12–15).
5. The One True God Is Worthy of our Lives (16–18).

“When Everything Is Made Right” (Psalm 2)
Pastor Cameron Jungels

Sunday AM, September 25, 2016
Psalm 2 (NIV)
1 Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth rise up
and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break their chains
and throw off their shackles.”
4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
5 He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 “I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.”
7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree:
He said to me, “You are my son;
today I have become your father.
8 Ask me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You will break them with a rod of iron;
you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”
10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear
and celebrate his rule with trembling.
12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry
and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
I. Rebellion against God is utter futility.
A. But the wicked still plot and scheme how to avoid God’s authority.
B. The wicked do not want to be in bondage to God and his rule.
II. Because God Reigns.
III. Therefore, put your trust in God.
Main Idea: Ultimate hope comes from trusting in the one who rules all things and is bringing all of history to its intended conclusion.
A. There are consequences for rebelling against God.
B. There is blessing for those who trust in him.
Ultimate hope comes from trusting in the one who will make everything right.

Sunday AM, September 18, 2016
Psalm 63 (NIV)
A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.
1 You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
6 On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.
7 Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
8 I cling to you;
your right hand upholds me.
9 Those who want to kill me will be destroyed;
they will go down to the depths of the earth.
10 They will be given over to the sword
and become food for jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God;
all who swear by God will glory in him,
while the mouths of liars will be silenced.
Main Idea: When the trials of life overwhelm us, we must run to God.
1. When the trials of life overwhelm us, we must long for God with all of our hearts.
2. When the trials of life come, we must trust God for protection and deliverance.
3. When the trials of life come, we must joyfully anticipate the good that God has intended to accomplish with the trial.

“Worship the Almighty, Holy God” (Psalm 95)
Pastor Cameron Jungels

Sunday AM, September 11, 2016
Psalm 95 (NIV)
1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
3 For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
7 for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
Today, if only you would hear his voice,
8 “Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,
as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness,
9 where your ancestors tested me;
they tried me, though they had seen what I did.
10 For forty years I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’”
1. Rejoicing (1–5)
2. Reverence (6–7a)
3. Response (7b–11)
Main Idea: True worship of God demands rejoicing, reverence, and a response of faith and obedience.
Worship is not only the bending of the knee; it is also the bending of the will before our sovereign God.

“A Just and Righteous King” (Psalm 72)Pastor Cameron JungelsEastside Baptist ChurchSunday AM, January 31, 2016
Psalm 72
Of Solomon.
1 Endow the king with your justice, O God,
the royal son with your righteousness.
2 May he judge your people in righteousness,
your afflicted ones with justice.
3 May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,
the hills the fruit of righteousness.
4 May he defend the afflicted among the people
and save the children of the needy;
may he crush the oppressor.
5 May he endure as long as the sun,
as long as the moon, through all generations.
6 May he be like rain falling on a mown field,
like showers watering the earth.
7 In his days may the righteous flourish
and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.
8 May he rule from sea to sea
and from the River to the ends of the earth.
9 May the desert tribes bow before him
and his enemies lick the dust.
10 May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores
bring tribute to him.
May the kings of Sheba and Seba
present him gifts.
11 May all kings bow down to him
and all nations serve him.
12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
the afflicted who have no one to help.
13 He will take pity on the weak and the needy
and save the needy from death.
14 He will rescue them from oppression and violence,
for precious is their blood in his sight.
15 Long may he live!
May gold from Sheba be given him.
May people ever pray for him
and bless him all day long.
16 May grain abound throughout the land;
on the tops of the hills may it sway.
May the crops flourish like Lebanon
and thrive like the grass of the field.
17 May his name endure forever;
may it continue as long as the sun.
Then all nations will be blessed through him,
and they will call him blessed.
18 Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel,
who alone does marvelous deeds.
19 Praise be to his glorious name forever;
may the whole earth be filled with his glory.
Amen and Amen.
20 This concludes the prayers of David son of Jesse.
1. Prayer for God’s Anointed King (1)2. A Just and Righteous Kingdom (2–4)3. An Enduring Kingdom (5–7)4. A Universal Kingdom (8–11)5. A Compassionate Kingdom (12–14)6. A Prosperous Kingdom (15–17)7. Praise to God the Universal King (18–20)Main Idea: God’s ideal anointed King would rule his people with justice, righteousness, and compassion, and the kingdom would flourish forever under his rule. This kingdom will ultimately come in the reign of Jesus the Messiah, and the whole world will be blessed under his reign.

“The Lord Reigns” (Psalm 96)Pastor Cameron JungelsEastside Baptist ChurchSunday AM, December 27, 2015Psalm 96:1–13 (NIV)
1 Sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name;
proclaim his salvation day after day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
4 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the nations are idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and glory are in his sanctuary.
7 Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come into his courts.
9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”
The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved;
he will judge the peoples with equity.
11 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
12 Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
13 Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes,
he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples in his faithfulness.
